Monash Quality Network
The Monash Quality Network (MQN) was established in 2005, as a key, university-wide group to consider, share and discuss matters relating to quality at Monash. The Vice-Chancellor has also determined that it will serve as the university’s audit reference group, and will thus play a central role in assisting the university in its preparation for audit.
The MQN replaces two former networks – the Faculty Quality Coordinators’ Network (FQCN) and the Support Services Quality Network (SSQN), which had been operating from 2002 and 2003 respectively. Because of the commonality of issues and interests across academic and support areas, and also because of the impending Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) audit, it was agreed by both groups that a single quality network should be established.
The MQN consists of 40-50 members, representatives from all parts of the university, (including all campuses) nominated by DV-Cs, PV-Cs, Deans and Divisional Directors. Many representatives have a responsibility for quality within their own functional area.
The MQN is chaired by Professor Merran Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Quality) and meets four times per year. Its primary functions are to:
-
provide a forum for the sharing of good practice across the university, and to learn from each other's experience;
-
provide a means of communicating university quality initiatives;
-
obtain input on quality issues from faculties and support services; and
-
assist the coordination of the university's preparations for audit.
