Quality Audit at Monash UniversityThe Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) was established in March 2000 as an independent national agency to promote, audit and report on quality assurance in Australian higher education. All Australian universities and self-accrediting institutions are audited by AUQA. AUQA will be replaced by a new national regulatory agency, the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA), in 2010. At this stage, Monash will continue with the preparations for the 2012 AUQA audit as planned and CHEQ will monitor developments as TEQSA commences operation next year. Cycle 2 AuditIn July 2008 AUQA announced that Monash will be among 11 universities audited in 2012 as part of Cycle 2 audits. The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Quality) has commenced preparations for the next audit and the November 2009 update is now available. Cycle 1 AuditCycle 1 AUQA audits were completed in 2006 with Monash being audited in that year. These were ‘whole of institution’ audits of quality arrangements relating to the activities of Australian universities and self accrediting institutions. The self-review portfolio, audit panel visit, audit report and institutional progress report are available from the Monash 2006 audit page.
